Commissioned by Channel Television, “Back to School: A Swaziland Challenge” follows the journey of a team of nine volunteers leaving their office jobs behind for a month to go to Swaziland and build a block of classrooms at a rural primary school. The programme also looks at the issues that this community has to deal with in their daily lives.
The high rates of HIV/AIDS in Swaziland mean that half of the 360 children at the school have been orphaned. This is an educational and heart warming story that illuminates the reality for a rural African community and the appreciated support and commitment from overseas volunteers.
“Xanthe’s documentary will give our viewers a real insight into how a local aid project has had such a positive impact on the people of this African community. We are delighted to be able to support the project by commissioning this programme for our regional schedule.”
